It was dark tonight... Oddly darker then usual. Deilos used to be so afraid of the dark. Everything such an infinite creature could hide. But now he was afraid of being lonely like he was right now. "We're all friends here. Like a huge family of mismatched cats ya know?" Deilos shook his head and blinked. He had gone so long without sleep, his dreams were coming into his waking hours. But he wanted to be here when his kinda brother came back. When Alkaios came back. At first he didn't believe it and sat at the entrance to the Empire wagging his tail like an eagerly waiting pup. But after a week of waiting, his tail simply flopped to his side where it stayed. It had been a while now. Before now Deilos had plush soft fur, at the least he looked healthy and alive. Now his skin was stretched tight over bone and he no longer had the strength to wag his tail or even lift it. "It isn't mismatched if you're not here kinda brother... I hear Astrid at night. She speaks so sweetly of you. Maybe if she had cubs one could be named after you... I feel like she is that kinda cat." The poor ragged cougar looked up at the sky feeling like he could float up there now. Maybe if he was up there, he could see Alkaios wherever he may be. Deilos winced pulling himself to his paws. There was a voice in the back of his head that lightly bumped him on the bottom as a mother would her cub telling him to go. Go where? Somehow his heart knew. There would be no great sorrow if he left. None would sit in this spot awaiting his return. He knew that as he began a slow walk to somewhere. Somewhere he knew somehow.
Deilos gritted his teeth as he stepped into the city walking past angry yowling Bounty Hunter cats. The insults thrown his way were ignored with a simple flick of his tail. He was circled by several cats and at last... He exhaled like since his kinda brother's departure he held his breath. His gaze went to the stars above which he admired before he no longer saw again. He didn't feel claws or fangs on him nor the feeling of his lifeblood spilling from various wounds. "Like any family... Bro..." A heavy paw on his neck and the cowardly little cougar was put to rest. No more fear or pain. Just rest.
For a while it was quiet. He enjoyed the quiet. Then he was so gently lifted from the ground and held like a small cub. "My Deilos... I'm proud of you..." Mom. His mom. Deilos purred nuzzling his mom before a heavy paw hit him across the back. At first he wanted to yowl in pain but he remembered that same heavy slap. "Well now didn't expect ta see you up here now cub!" Deilos broke away from his mother who simply chuckled at how well he took that. "K-Kinda bro? You..?" The large golden cougar pulled him in close giving him noogies until he was laughing and trying to push him off and catch his breath. Deilos righted his tufty hair and frowned. "So this..." Alkaios nodded knowing what he was asking before he finished the sentence. Deilos thought he should be sad but it wasn't right. A grin spread across the larger cougar's face and he gestured to all the cats around before finishing the last thing Deilos said before he died. "...We'll all come home.</i>" And for once, Deilos truly smiled.
All was well...
